Hetaween - the Aftermath

So Hetaween is over. Although I've been keeping an eye to the whole thing since the beginning, it was like, a couple of checks a day...but as updates became more constant and the plot increasingly crazy I became more and more involved with the whole thing.
There's an issue that I want to bring up when the right time comes, but today's a moment to celebrate. Unadultered squeeing under the cut.
(Also, I owe an apology to my Twitter followers for my obnoxious spamming during this last week -- and ESPECIALLY, during these last 24 hours |D;)


FIrst of all, my deepest appreciation to the group that was practically living in the main comm. The past event, Bloodbath, was kind of bittersweet to me because of some uncomfortable situations in the main comm threads. But Hetaween was technically flawless in that sense; there was such a feeling of camaraderie where squeeing and partying were the premise and, if anyone were to let their frustration out, there would be always someone to remind which was the spirit of the party and that there was no place for wank. You know how I was becoming steadily discouraged with fandom, but this event gave me hope once again. It was REALLY refreshing to see loads of people genuinely enjoying something instead of looking for reasons to complain or being downers. It felt great. I NEVER WANT TO LEAVE THE MAIN COMM /camps in there

As for Himaruya-sensei, he proved himself to be a monster, in a good sense. He keeps excelling himself over and over, sacrificing sleep time and going as far as apologizing when there was an evident delay. He worked SO hard to please EVERY fan, by giving screentime to EVERY nation he has created PLUS introducing a handful of new nations for this event. Not only that; maybe on purpose, maybe not, but he also catered to the shippers' needs, doing LOTS of nations' interaction and even among nations who had never interacted before in canon. I'm sure nearly everyone came out of Hetaween shipping a new pairing xD

And the whole event was SO much fun. So much crazyness and a bit ridiculous at times, but it was all good fun. So many awesome memes are surely going to survive the event and they're going to be around for a looooong time. And I bet it was a totally inspiring experience to both artists and writers 8D I can't wait to see what comes out of this event!

But enough of rambling. LET'S DO SOME SQUEEING, BABY.

I clearly remember my two first shocks. First, how ADORABLY CHARMING America looked and, SHERLOCK!ENGLAND. THAT WAS A DREAM MADE TRUE. And those two, making their little quarrel public. GUH <3
France's Peter Pan group was fabulous! And, THE PAPER BEHIND ENGLAND'S EAR. Pixiv's imagination sure went wild with that 8DDDDDDD

GERMANY IN A ROMAN SOLDIER COSTUME, GUH. Those tights, those muscles! *drools* AND, ITALY AS HIS SLAVE. YOU'LL NEVER KNOW HOW MANY KINKY GERITA SCENARIOS I IMAGINED WITH THAT XDDDD
POLAND IN A HORSE. I REALLY HOPE ALL OF THE OLD SPICE RELATED MEMES THAT CAME OUT OF IT STAY AROUND FOR A LONG TIME XDDD Also, Poland in a toy horse was so cute ;3;
PIRATE!NORDICS WERE ALSO FAB. And SWEDEN IS TOTALLY BLUNT AND HE DOESN'T CARE. So much like an old married couple, Sweden and Finland <3

What a way to take revenge, England. PUTTING A SARCASTIC COMMENT ON TWITTER. And WHAT A COMMENT. Is that your idea of 'sarcastic comment', England?????????!!!!!  xD

I'm not a big fan of Bela but I really liked her in Hetaween. And costume-wise, the Alice in Wonderland group was truly my favorite.  But few costumes were as fabulous as....MOTHERFUCKING GRANDMANO. HE'S TRULY THE KING OF HETAWEEN. And Spain thinks it's cute xDDDD

There's a pairing whose hints went almost undetected by the overall fandom, but being me a Japan/Taiwan shipper, they didn't go past me. Taiwan, so cute! <3 And her constantly wanting to show Japan her stuff was so adorable. And the Asians group, pfff xD They were the most funny of all, and I NEVER thought Korea would go to such extremes for China 8DDDDDD

HUNGARY AND AUSTRIA WERE FLAWLESS. So manly, Hungary *o* And Austria as her princess? Trolololol |D
I remember that things got really tense when Russia made his apparition |D There was so much speculation by then! And, Canada being acknowledged was really nice somehow.

And then, another crowning moment. GODLY INDIA AND HIS FABULOUS BOLLYWOOD DANCE ALONG WITH PRUSSIA. I was seriously laughing out loud for then xD I'M SERIOUSLY HOPING FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE AN APH MMD VIDEO OF THE ORIGINAL DANCE. I remember that we had been SO trolled by Hima by then, that it took a while for some of us to be convinced that it was truly India and not so trolling xD Also, his Twitter conversations with Prussia were so nice! I'm glad that Prussia has a friend :D

And then, AND THEN! THAT AMBIGUOUS MOMENT WHERE AMERICA WAS TALKING TO A "MYSTERIOUS" PERSON as if 90% of the fandom hadn't guessed who was it.  And after that, we went through A WHOLE DAY OF PAINFUL DEATH AND UNCERTAINTY, BOTH JAPANESE AND WESTERN FANDOM ALIKE. You should have seen my Twitter list, full of Western fans and Japanese doujinkas desperately dying over every new update |D And then, we get the confirmation: "the hero will appear tomorrow". AND THEN WE WENT THROUGH ANOTHER PAINFUL DAY OF WAITING.

Enough of that, for the moment. During the waiting, we got several cute nations moments, including France hanged off a wire |D AND CAMEROON'S FABULOUS COSTUME. AND HIS EQUALLY FABULOUS ART-GRADUATED LION I still think it looks like a tiger, though
And then, that heartwarming moment between Luxembourg and the Tomato Gang, bawwwww ;w; I really wish to see more of Luxembourg in the future. And Grandpa Rome's revelation, OMG XDDDDDDDDDDDD How was that everybody was turning into slaves was one of the biggest mysteries in the whole event!

And then, it happened. Today, around 2 AM, the moment we had all been waiting for. And Hima didn't fail on delivering. Allow me to be obnoxious, once again.

My Twitter list pretty much exploded when it happened |D And so did the main comm threads! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL, SERIOUSLY. It felt at times like reading a doujinshi, it was really surreal...but the best part came today at 12.

THEIR COSTUMES, OMG. THERE WAS NO WAY IT COULD HAVE BEEN ANY GAYER XD And America being all nervous and awkward on telling England, and England AGREEING TO WEAR the costume, and him BEING AMERICA'S FIRST FOLLOWER on Twitter, and America MAKING UP SUCH A LAME EXCUSE FOR MAKING ENGLAND BEING HIS PARTNER, and England being a closet comic fan... 

MY SHIP, MY BEAUTIFUL SHIP ;O;

SO MANY FEELIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS /dies

And that was it xD The ending was perfect, with Vietnam's awesome costume and EVERYBODY being slaves and having beer together |D But I've yet to forget the complete bliss that Hima gave us during today...today's a beautiful day to be an USUK fan ;w; (and well, an Hetalia fan, of course)

But in the end, I guess the most wonderful thing about Hetaween was all those moments where we all suffered and waited together for every update, where we all squeed in unison, where we all had a reason to be happy. THAT'S the true spirit of Hetaween.

I have actually wondered if it wasn't a bother for you to stumble to such fandom rambling :'D But nothing bad on getting sucked again |D And yeah, it's hard to completely leave something you get to love really deeply. Although I can see why some people may fall out of love; the shipteasing moments we get are far and scarce. So when they come, they're really appreciated. And when it's so blatantly heavy teasing as what we got in here...you see the results; the whole fandom loses their shit :'D
